COMMUNITY EDUCATION.

Our Community Education response area offers support services to the refugee community to increase access to each individual’s unique education and career goals, with a focus on English language skills, digital literacy, and professional certification.

Tutoring

PRSG offers tailored tutoring support for youth and adults.

For children and teens, flexible sessions focus on homework help, academic improvement, and social support, provided at home, online, or in schools.

For adult community members, personalized English tutoring enhances speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

Sessions are delivered by volunteer tutors in various settings, including homes, public spaces, PRSG's office, or online, and are adapted to each student's learning goals.

Education Advocacy

Education Advocacy is designed to re-empower our youth community members by focusing on academic success, critical consciousness, and cultural competency.

Our program offers support and experiences driven by the diverse needs and wants of the youth in our community.

  • Youth community members are provided support and resources in an equitable way. 

    Examples: 

    • school supplies and food resources

    • Tutoring and college applications

    • meetings with teachers/parents

  • Youth community members are encouraged to critically think about events happening, experiences they encounter, and information they are given.

    Examples:

    • build and participate in peer community

    • encourage them to question what they experience

    • join sports teams, after school programs, and other enrichment activities

  • Youth community members learn about other cultures and work towards fluency in more than one culture other than their own. 

    Examples: 

    • engage with others from different demographics

    • attend diverse community events and activities

Working from a community lens, we strive to create a living, breathing program that is founded on the ever changing landscape we live in as a community.

Career Pathways

PRSG provides personalized Career Pathways support to help community members achieve their professional goals.

We meet our participants regularly to tailor our support to meet the unique goals of each individual, ensuring they receive the guidance and tools necessary to navigate their path toward long-term career development.
