COMMUNITY EDUCATION.

Our Community Education program offers support services to the refugee community to increase access to each individual’s unique education and career goals, with a primary focus on English language skills, digital literacy, and professional certification.

How we can help:

Tutoring

PRSG offers tailored tutoring support for youth and adults.

For children and teens, flexible sessions focus on homework help, academic improvement, and social support, provided at home, online, or in schools. For adult community members, personalized English tutoring enhances speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Sessions are delivered by volunteer tutors in various settings, including homes, public spaces, PRSG's office, or online, and are adapted to each student's learning goals.

Career Pathways

PRSG provides personalized Career Pathways support to help community members achieve their professional goals.

We meet our participants regularly to tailor our support to meet the unique goals of each individual, ensuring they receive the guidance and tools necessary to navigate their path toward long-term career development.

Bridging the

Digital Divide:

One of our visions with the Digital Divide Program has been to conduct workshops and other learning opportunities through a community lens to ensure that we are bringing diverse and unique voices to this program. To achieve this, we have been collaborating with some of our wonderful community partners, including Portland Community College and Portland Youth Builders, as well as our dedicated group of volunteers, to lead workshops that cover topics related to their skills and expertise. We plan to continue leading this program with a community-centered lens throughout the year.

Meet Marwa, a dedicated student on a mission to make a difference in the world of mental health! Two years ago, she began her journey at Oregon State University's Master's Program for Counseling, where she's honing her skills and expertise.

Marwa's dream is to become a mental health professional, specializing as a multicultural counselor fluent in Arabic. Her passion lies in helping individuals overcome trauma and mental health challenges, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in her services.

In her own words, Marwa aims to not only provide counseling but also to share her insights through blogging, breaking down stigma and fostering open conversations about mental health.

As she approaches her graduation, Marwa is steadfast in her goal of opening a private facility, where she can offer personalized and compassionate care to those in need.

Congratulations, Marwa!
